AfDB's Active Portfolio in Morocco Amounts to Nearly $4 Bln

The active portfolio of the African Development Bank (AfDB) in Morocco amounts to nearly US$ 4 billion, said the Bank's Resident Representative in Morocco, Achraf Tarsim.

These commitments concern several sectors, including energy, multi-sector operations, social and human development, the private sector, water and sanitation as well as transport and agriculture, Tarsim told MAP on the sidelines of the Annual Meetings of the AfDB taking place on May 23-27 in Accra, Ghana.

The Bank supports Morocco by helping to foster the conditions for strong, sustainable and inclusive growth, part of its "High 5" priority areas (Feed Africa; Light up Africa; Industrialize Africa; Integrate Africa; and Improve the Quality of Life for the people of Africa),

The AfDB is deploying emergency operations to support Morocco in its health, economic and social response to the Covid-19 pandemic, supporting human social development and promoting job creation.

Present in Morocco since 1970, the AfDB financed the first project in the Kingdom in 1978, in the drinking water and sanitation sector.
