Morocco's Minister of Economic Inclusion, Small Business, Employment and Skills, Younes Sekkouri, and Portuguese Minister of Labor, Solidarity and Social Protection, Ana Mendes Godinho, discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in the field of employment on Tuesday in Lisbon.
This meeting, which is part of the implementation of the employment agreement, concluded between the two countries, aims to strengthen bilateral cooperation in this crucial sector, placed at the heart of Morocco's priorities, in accordance with the High Royal Instructions, and in line with the radiance of the Kingdom, through its young skills, Sekkouri said in a statement to the press following the meeting.
This meeting was an opportunity to examine the practical actions that should be taken to implement this new generation convention, said the minister, adding that both countries agreed to launch an experimental program, which will provide work opportunities in Portugal to 400 Moroccan workers, in agriculture.
All work, social security, and health rights will be guaranteed to the various beneficiaries, Sekkouri stated.
The National Agency for the Promotion of Employment and Skills (ANAPEC) and its Portuguese counterpart IEFP will conclude an agreement to implement this project, he added.
The implementation of this program, which requires mobilizing logistical and administrative resources to select, monitor and ensure optimal integration of Moroccan employees in Portuguese companies, is expected in a few months, said the official.
For her part, Mendes Godinho assured that the flow of workers will be continuous, noting that ANAPEC and IEFP collaborate closely to ensure optimum implementation of this agreement, which is a timely opportunity for both countries, workers, and companies.
It was also agreed to strengthen the exchange programs and training for Moroccan workers and set the areas requested by Portuguese companies, she added.
On the sidelines of this meeting, which took place in the presence of Morocco's ambassador to Portugal, Othman Bahnini, Sekkouri visited the Santarém vocational training center.
Created in 2008, this educational structure provides training courses and workshops on electromechanics, which are adapted to the needs of the Portuguese market.
