Three Spanish branches of BMCE International Bank, which belongs to the Moroccan 'Bank of Africa', will be closed at the end of the current month, local Spanish media reported.
According to the same sources, the three branches of the Bank in Malaga, Tarragona, and Alicante reduced, as of today, its members of staff, preparing to close its doors at the end of February.
The local Spanish media have wondered about the workers' fate in these branches, while the Bank has not issued any statement about these developments yet.
This closure of 3 branches of BMCE International bank in Spain comes after a fine imposed on it by the Bank of Spain in previous months with a value of more than 1.11 million euros.
The Bank of Spain has imposed the fine on BMCE International Bank and eight members of its board of directors for violations related to corporate governance and remuneration policy, and imbalances in the organizational structure and internal control mechanisms, in addition to the imbalances associated with administrative and accounting procedures.
Given the silence of the concerned Bank, it is unknown if the closure of the three branches has something to with the financial penalties that were imposed on it or it is related to the repercussions of the Coronavirus pandemic.
