Over 3 million Moroccans received first dose of COVID-19 vaccine so far

More than 3 million people in Morocco received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine up to yesterday, Feb. 25, at 6 p.m., according to daily statistics issued by the Ministry of Health.

The same source shows that 3,160 479 people received the first dose, while 43, 626 received their second dose of the coronavirus vaccine up to yesterday at 6 p.m.

Morocco started its national vaccination campaign on Jan. 28, after King Mohamed VI received the first shot. It has been a month now.

The Ministry of Health has recently said that Morocco seeks to achieve herd immunity within 4 or 5 months at maximum. And to achieve that, more than 30 million people must be vaccinated, which equals 80 percent of the population.

Officially Morocco has secured 7 million vaccine doses so far, 6 million AstraZeneca- Oxford vaccine, while 1 million belong to Chinese Sinopharm vaccine.

The Ministry of Health has lately said that other shipments of the COVID-19 vaccine will arrive in Morocco soon.
