Morocco Largest Arab exporter to Mexico in 2020

The Mexican Foreign Trade Council (COMCO) showed that Morocco’s products exports to Mexico in 2020 recorded more than $ 298 million, Making Morocco the largest Arab exporter to this Latin American country.

The Moroccan exports to Mexico are based in particular on phosphates, vehicles and planes spare parts as well as fishery products.

The Moroccan embassy in Mexico City said in a press release that the Moroccan exports to Mexico have recorded a significant increase despite the constraints linked to the Coronavirus pandemic.

The Kingdom is currently the largest Arab exporter to the Mexican market, ahead of the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman and Egypt, Morocco’s news agaency MAP said.

For its part, Morocco imported from Mexico in the same year, about 26 million dollars in goods, in particular butanes and electronic and mechanical equipment.

However, according to the Moroccan embassy in Mexico City, the bilateral trade between Morocco and Mexico amounted to a total of 324 million dollars, but the prospects for the development of these exchanges are promising.

Quoted in the press release, the Moroccan ambassador in Mexico City, Abdelfattah Lebbar, underlines the "strong interest" of Mexican stakeholders in strengthening economic ties with the Kingdom, expressing the hope that the commercial potential between the two countries will be fully exploited.

The diplomat stressed, in this regard, the importance of promoting in particular the exchange of visits by businessmen to stimulate investment and trade and taking advantage of the cooperation agreement concluded in 2004 in Mexico City between the Mexican Foreign Trade Council and the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises.
