Shimco Expands into Morocco: Boost for Local Aerospace

A partnership agreement was signed on Friday in Rabat between the Integrated Industrial Platform- Midparc and Shimco, a Canadian company operating in the aerospace sector, for its establishment in the Nouaceur free zone.

Speaking at the ceremony, attended by Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour, Midparc chairman Hamid Benbrahim El Andaloussi said he was honored to welcome Shimco, a company renowned for its major expertise in the aeronautical sector.

"Shimco was attracted by the quality, competitiveness and resilience of the Moroccan aeronautical base, which offers a unique business model," emphasized Benbrahim El Andaloussi.

Shimco is currently "committed to a 1,300 m² module, and plans to double its capacity in the next three years, then triple it in the next seven years", which testifies to the development potential of its activities in Morocco.

In this regard, Benbrahim El Andaloussi highlighted the strong anticipated demand for Morocco in the aeronautics sector, with orders from major aircraft manufacturers such as Boeing and Airbus spanning the next ten to twelve years.

For his part, CEO of Shimco, Peter Voss, emphasized the importance of establishing his company in Morocco, due to the advantages that the country offers, particularly in terms of production costs.

The establishment in Midparc represents an excellent opportunity, given that this area is booming in the aerospace sector, he said, noting Shimco's ambition to double its aeronautical production capacity in the next three or four years.
