Tourist arrivals in Morocco reached 3.3 million at the end of the first quarter of 2024, up 12.8% on the same period a year earlier, according to the Directorate of Studies and Financial Forecasts (DEPF), under the Economy and Finance Ministry.
"At the start of 2024, the main tourism sector indicators (arrivals and overnight stays) continue to gain momentum. Indeed, the flow of arrivals to the destination 'Morocco' strengthened by 12.8% at the end of the first quarter of 2024, driven by the performances of March, February and January 2024 (+10.2%, +17.9% and +10.4% respectively)," said the DEPF in its recent business report.
Compared with the first quarter of 2019, the volume of arrivals in Morocco has consolidated by 31.6%, the DEPF reports, adding that the volume of overnight stays in classified accommodation establishments rose by 7.3%, in annual variation, at the end of the first two months of 2024, driven by an 11% increase in overnight stays by non-residents, alleviated by a 1% fall in overnight stays by residents.
Compared with the end of February 2019, these overnight stays firmed up by 11.1%, following an increase of 10.7% at the end of January 2024 and 3.6% at the end of February 2023.
