The General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM) has issued a warning of a significant heatwave set to affect multiple provinces in Morocco from Saturday through Monday. According to the DGM's announcement on Thursday, temperatures are forecasted to range between 37 and 42°C (around 99 and 108°F) during this period.
The affected provinces include Beni Mellal, Fquih Bensalah, Khenifra, Settat, Rehamna, Youssoufia, and Chichaoua, where residents are advised to prepare for high temperatures as part of an orange alert level.
Additionally, the heatwave is expected to impact several other provinces, including El Kelaa des Sraghna, Marrakech, Moulay Yaacoub, Fez, Meknes, Taounate, Sidi Slimane, Khemisset, Sidi Kacem, Errachidia, Zagoura, Tinghir, Tata, and Aousserd.
