Donald Trump leaves hospital after assassination attempt at rally

Former President Donald Trump has returned to his home in New Jersey after sustaining injuries in an attempted assassination at a rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday.

The incident occurred while Trump was speaking at the event, with shots suddenly ringing out and causing widespread panic among the crowd. Secret Service agents quickly surrounded the former president to shield him from further harm. Witnesses reported seeing Trump with a bloodied face as he described being shot in the ear, hearing a "whizzing sound," and feeling a "bullet ripping through skin."

The assailant, identified by the FBI as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, was shot and killed by Secret Service agents at the scene. A witness recounted to the BBC that they saw a man with a rifle crawling on a roof just before the shots were fired.

The attack also resulted in the death of one spectator and left two others critically injured.

In response to the violent act, President Joe Biden condemned the assassination attempt, urging all Americans to denounce such "sick" violence. "This kind of senseless violence has no place in our society," Biden stated.

Despite the harrowing experience, Trump, who is currently running for president again, was seen on video dropping to the ground before standing up and raising his fist to the crowd, showcasing his resilience and determination to continue his campaign.

The nation now watches closely as Trump recovers from the ordeal, and the investigation into the motives behind the attack continues.
