Morocco and China Aim to Strengthen Cooperation in Nuclear Safety

In a step towards bolstering international nuclear safety standards, the Director General of the Moroccan Agency for Nuclear and Radiological Safety and Security (AMSSNuR), Saïd Mouline, met with the Chinese Vice-Minister of Ecology and Environment and head of the National Nuclear Safety Administration (NNSA), Dong Baotong, in Beijing this week.

The high-level meeting centered on the implementation of a previously signed cooperation agreement between AMSSNuR and the NNSA. The agreement aims to enhance bilateral collaboration in nuclear safety and facilitate the exchange of knowledge and expertise between Morocco and China.

During the discussions, Mouline underscored the critical importance of this partnership for Morocco. He highlighted the potential for developing technical capacities and establishing best practices in nuclear regulation within the country. Mouline expressed his desire for a swift implementation of the planned initiatives under the agreement to maximize the strategic benefits for both nations.

In response, Dong reaffirmed China's commitment to supporting Morocco’s efforts in strengthening nuclear safety. He emphasized the mutual benefits of this partnership and expressed satisfaction with the current trajectory of the collaboration.

"This meeting represents an important milestone in the enhancement of bilateral relations between Morocco and China," noted Dong. "It opens new avenues for future joint projects aimed at ensuring the peaceful and secure use of nuclear energy."
