Dominican Republic supports Morocco's sovereignty over Sahara, plans to open a consulate in Dakhla

According to a press release issued today by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Dominican Republic, during the audience granted to him by the President of the Dominican Republic, Luis Abinader, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, was asked to convey to King Mohammed VI, "the Dominican Republic’s firm support for Morocco's sovereignty over the Sahara and its intention to consider, as a priority in future expansion plans, the opening of a consulate in the city of Dakhla."

President Abinader also reaffirmed that the Dominican Republic "considers the autonomy plan proposed by Morocco as the only solution to the dispute over the Sahara," the press release states.  

During the audience, held at the National Palace as part of the inauguration ceremony of the Dominican Republic’s President, Bourita, representing King Mohammed VI, conveyed to President Abinader the Sovereign's congratulations and his wishes to the President for success in his new term of office, the same source added.

Bourita also extended the invitation of the King to President Abinader to pay an official visit to Morocco, an opportunity to establish a framework for deepening bilateral relations in various fields.

On this occasion, President Abinader underlined his willingness to strengthen bilateral relations in all areas, and his intention to visit Morocco at the invitation of King Mohammed VI, the press release underlined.
