Morocco’s Assahifa and China’s People's Daily Agree on a Bilateral Media Partnership

Assahifa media group has agreed with officials from the Chinese online newspaper People's Daily to establish a long-term media cooperation partnership, which includes the exchange of news between the two institutions, particularly in the areas of economics and culture relevant to Morocco and China.

At the headquarters in the Chinese capital, Beijing, Khalid El Berhli, General Manager of the Assahifa media group met with Yu Shaoliang, Editor-in-Chief of the People's Daily, and Shi Xiang, Director of the Department of Foreign Relations. They reached a preliminary agreement to draft a partnership agreement focusing on exchanging news and expertise in the media field.

This cooperation will include both the Arabic and English editions of Assahifa, while People's Daily is published in seven languages: Chinese, Arabic, French, English, Russian, Japanese, and Spanish. The agreement will also cover the print version of the Chinese newspaper, which distributes more than four million copies daily.

Khalid El Berhli, General Manager of Assahifa media group, presented the English version of Assahifa Tourism Magazine to Yu Shaoliang and Shi Xiang. The magazine highlights the most important tourist areas in Morocco and serves as a guide for 12 Moroccan cities. It has been published in both Arabic and English.

This preliminary agreement, whose terms will be drafted under the mutual agreement between the two institutions, comes as part of the restructuring that Assahifa is undergoing. The restructuring includes expanding further into Maghreb countries by appointing correspondents in these nations, as well as strengthening the English and Arabic editions of Assahifa and the Magazine.

The vision aims to develop and improve the media product of Assahifa and strengthen its brand by opening up to international media experiences through partnerships and exchanging expertise with globally recognized institutions.
