Sahara: Saudi Arabia Reiterates Support for Autonomy Plan, Morocco's Territorial Integrity

Saudi Arabia reiterated, in New York, its support for the autonomy initiative presented by Morocco to definitively settle the regional dispute over the Sahara, within the framework of the Kingdom's national sovereignty and territorial integrity. 

Speaking before the 4th Committee of the UN General Assembly, the representative of Saudi Arabia stressed that his country "reaffirms support for the autonomy initiative in the Moroccan Sahara within the framework of Morocco's sovereignty and its territorial integrity, as a solution in accordance with international law and the resolutions of the Security Council and the UN General Assembly".

He further underlined that Saudi Arabia rejects any attack on the supreme interests of the Kingdom of Morocco, as well as its territorial integrity and national sovereignty. 

The diplomat also expressed his country's support for Morocco's efforts to achieve a realistic political solution to the issue of the Moroccan Sahara, based on compromise and the relevant resolutions of the Security Council and under the supervision of the UN Secretary-General.
