Germany reaffirmed “the great importance” it attached to the strategic, multidimensional and privileged partnership between Morocco and the European Union, following the rulings of the European Court of Justice (ECJ) on the fisheries and agricultural agreements between the EU and Morocco.
The German Foreign Ministry's spokesman said in a statement that the broad and long-standing EU-Morocco ties are set to deepen further, recalling in this context the joint statement issued by the European Commission President Ursula Von der Leyen and the EU High Representative Josep Borrell following the ECJ ruling.
This joint statement, he recalled, reaffirms the European bloc’s commitment to further preserve and strengthen the close ties with Morocco in all areas, in line with the “pacta sunt servanda” principle.
This is a rare political act that emphasizes the importance of Morocco and the EU’s partnership with the Kingdom and reiterates the “great value” that the EU attaches to “its long-standing, broad and deep strategic partnership with Morocco.”
The German Federal Foreign Office, which took note of the ECJ ruling, also recalled the strengthened relations between Berlin and Rabat, thanks to the strategic dialogue held at the level of the foreign ministers of the two countries.
