Morocco's Royal Navy combat unit on a maritime patrol mission intercepted, on Friday, an inflatable boat 77 km northwest of the town of Tan-Tan, carrying 52 would-be irregular migrants, including 51 Sub-Saharans and 1 Bangladeshi, who were planning to head for the Canary Islands.
The rescued people received first aid on board before being taken to the port of Tan-Tan and handed over to the Royal Gendarmerie for the usual administrative procedures, the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces said in a press release.
