Spanish FM Says Relations with Morocco Enjoying 'Best Moments'

Morocco and Spain are currently enjoying the "best moments in their bilateral relations," declared José Manuel Albares, Spain’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union, and Cooperation, during a session at the Spanish Congress of Deputies on Wednesday.

"Our relations with Morocco are vital and mutually advantageous," Albares stressed, highlighting the importance of security cooperation between the two countries. This collaboration, according to him, plays a "pivotal role" in combating human trafficking networks and dismantling terrorist cells.

The minister praised the progress achieved under the bilateral roadmap between Morocco and Spain, describing its outcomes as "overwhelmingly positive and exceptionally beneficial for both nations."

Albares also highlighted the strength of economic ties between the two countries, emphasizing Morocco’s position as one of Spain’s most important trading partners.

In 2023, trade between Morocco and Spain exceeded €21 billion, with nearly 17,000 Spanish companies exporting to Morocco and more than 4,000 Spanish firms operating in the Moroccan market, he pointed out.
