Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Sisi said on Tuesday that at least three days are necessary to resolve the "traffic jam" from the ships at the Suez Canal after the blockage incident with the Ever Given container ship.
In a visit to the Canal, the President stressed that 'the situation in the Suez Canal has returned to normal, we expect that within three days the traffic jam from the ships will be eliminated, the movement will resume.
Some 140 cargo ships need to go through the Suez Canal until midnight, the canal's administration noted.
An investigation will reveal what caused the blockage incident with the Ever Given ship, President Sisi said, advising against jumping to conclusions.
Ever Given, a 1,300-feet-long container ship was stuck in the Suez Canal blocking the navigation through the channel on March 23. It was reopened after the gigantic cargo ship was towed in the direction of the Bitter Lakes on Monday.
