The Algerian army has killed a Mauritanian citizen, and wounded others, after it targeted them at the Mauritanian-Algerian border.
The Mauritanian authorities has confirmed in an official statement the accident, noting that the matter concerns Mauritanian citizens, who were in 6 cars, roaming the desert in search of gold, and they entered Algerian soil.
The Mauritanian authorities added that, within the framework of the Algerian army’s operations to secure the borders, its members directed warning shots at first, and as the cars continued to advance, shots were fired to stop them.
The statement has added that, next to the broken cars, three people were found, including two injured, one of whom died of his wounds, while the second is undergoing treatment in Algeria and his life is not in danger.
