President of Guinea-Bissau, Umaro Sissoco Embalo, has left the Tunisian capital, as a protest gesture against the presence of ‘Polisario’ Front representatives at TICAD 8 Conference, “Tokyo International Conference on African Development”.
According to media reports, this is the second official protest against the presence of ‘Polisario’ in this conference, after Senegal’s President, Macky Sall, expressed on Saturday morning, in the opening session, his regret about Morocco’s absence from this conference due to organizational errors.
Morocco announced yesterday that it will not participate in this event due to Tunisia’s reception of ‘Polisario’ Front representative after the Tunisian Presidency published a video showing the reception of ‘Polisario’ leader Brahim Ghali by Tunisian President, Kais Saied.
Morocco considered the Tunisian step an unprecedented hostile act towards its high interests and decided to summon its ambassador to Tunis for consultations.
According to a number of observers, this issue would severely impact Moroccan-Tunisian relations.
