Morocco, Libya Set to Promote Cooperation on Youth Matters

Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, and his Libyan counterpart, Fathallah Abdel-Latif Al-Zini held, Friday in Rabat, talks on the strengthening of cooperation in promoting the conditions of youth.

During their meeting, the two parties highlighted the long-standing relations between Morocco and Libya which constitute a basis for a fruitful bilateral cooperation, particularly within the framework of the Moroccan-Libyan high joint commission that is able to achieve the aspirations of the youth of both countries and to embody a model to be followed at the Maghreb scale.

In a statement to the press, Al-Zini said that these talks have identified a common vision vis-à-vis the challenges and issues related to improving the conditions of youth in both countries but also on the Maghreb, whose age pyramid shows a strong presence of youth.

The Libyan official then stressed that his trip to Rabat is part of the action of the high joint Moroccan-Libyan commission in its component inherent in the joint bilateral program on youth.

The youth is the real wealth of the Maghreb countries, he said, highlighting the importance of strengthening cooperation between Morocco and Libya to address the difficulties, especially in terms of finance, faced by youth. This cooperation should, according to him, set up as a foundation of the common Maghreb action.

The Libyan minister also thanked Morocco, King, government and people, for the constant support to his country, saying that "the historic Skhirat Agreement has laid the foundations of understanding, civil coexistence and national reconciliation between Libyans as well as it represents a key step from which the government of national unity has emerged".

For his part, Bensaid highlighted the importance that Morocco attaches to its relations with Libya in various fields, based on common historical denominators and prospecting a better future for posterity.

On the occasion of this meeting, he said, it was decided to establish a practical program to give substance to the agreements between the two parties and strengthen ties between the youth of both countries, believing that the outcome of this cooperation will benefit the entire Maghreb region.

Bensaid said to aspire to the development of joint programs to overcome the problems faced by the youth of the Maghreb and provide effective solutions.
