The Senegalese President, Macky Sall, thanked friendly countries, including Morocco which have "kindly accompanied the first steps" of the Defense Institute of Senegal (IDS), inaugurated on Thursday at the Idrissa-Fall military camp in Dakar.
The creation of the IDS is a "concrete response" to the challenge of training executives of the armed forces, said President Macky Sall in an address at the inauguration ceremony of this institute, which was attended by several personalities, including Colonel Hamid Ait Akki, the Naval and Air Military Attaché to the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Dakar.
This institute is linked to Morocco's Royal College of Higher Military Education by a partnership agreement signed in June 2021.
"The IDS is a concrete response to the challenge of training high-level executives of the armed forces, a training that we provide most often in the context of cooperation,'' he said, stressing that Senegal will continue to rely on cooperation to ensure the training of its military cadres.
In this regard, openness to fertile contributions from outside is always a source of enrichment, President Macky Sall believes.
"But it is important that we can ensure by ourselves the essential mission of training our military elite. This is exactly the vocation of the IDS'', he said during the ceremony.
