A report published days ago by the World Bank, on the economic situation in Algeria, indicated the presence of negative indicators in the Algerian economy and also pointed to some of the risks that threaten it.
According to the World Bank report, the latter considered that the recovery in the non-oil sector in Algeria had stumbled and remained largely incomplete, and warned of the risks of inflation. The report criticized the slow movement of the Algerian banks and financial policies, pointing out that in the absence of a rapid implementation of the announced reforms, the economic prospects indicate a fragile recovery and the deterioration of the financial and external balances in the medium term.
The report also pointed to the persistence of poverty in many regions in Algeria, noting that there are gaps in this area in a number of points within the country, despite the improvement of the poverty index in other regions, adding, on the other hand, that the country remains threatened by many natural disasters such as floods and earthquakes. that affect the economy. In this context, the report says that Algeria has a weak response to disasters and its main focus is on reconstruction only.
And the official news agency of Algeria considered that the World Bank is targeting the country, through “a report without any value, and has nothing to do with the financial aspect,” accusing that the report was edited by “parties known to be hostile to Algeria,” alluding to the Kingdom of Morocco, in one of the new accusations. The interesting thing is that this stinging attack by Algeria towards the World Bank report and accusing Morocco of being behind its formulation comes after Algeria praised a previous report of the same bank, which was issued at this time last year, especially in its positive signs to the rapid intervention of Algeria to contain the Coronavirus epidemic.
