The Versailles Prize for the most beautiful restaurant in the world (2020) was awarded, Thursday in Paris, to Le Palais Ronsard in Marrakech, the organizers said.
This world prize for architecture and design is a competition involving the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the International Union of Architects.
It rewards the most outstanding achievements from an architectural point of view, both interior and exterior, in six regions: Africa and West Asia, Central and South America and the Caribbean, North America, Central and Northeast Asia, South Asia and the Pacific, and Europe.
According to the Secretariat of the Versailles Prize, the criteria applied by the judges encompass innovation, creativity, reflection of local, natural and cultural heritage, and ecological efficiency, as well as the values of social interaction and participation which the United Nations holds in high regard.
Located a few kilometers from the famous Jamaa el-Fna square, Le Palais Ronsard is an oasis of peace in the heart of the Marrakech Palm Grove. Realized by interior designer Gil Dez, it combines Moroccan tradition and Art Deco spirit.
Last year, the Kénitra train station was awarded the Special Prize Exterior during a ceremony held at UNESCO headquarters in Paris.
