Algerian gas exports to Spain dropped by 42% in last seven months

Algerian gas exports to Spain witnessed a drop during the last seven months of 2022, from January to July, according to Spanish energy company “Enagas”.

The same source revealed through the last statistics of Spain’s gas imports, that Algerian gas decreased by 42 percent compared to the first seven months of 2021, while the imports of Russian gas increased by more than 15 percent.

Statistics of Enagas showed that the United States is still at the top of the suppliers of Spain with natural gas by 32,9 percent of the Spanish total imports of gas.

Algeria came in second with 24,5 percent, then came Russia after Nigeria as the fourth supplier of Spain with natural gas.

Anyway, it was expected that the Algerian gas exports to Spain will record a decrease regarding the diplomatic crisis with Spain, in meantime, Madrid has looked for other suppliers such as the U.S. to reduce its dependency on Algeria.
