Morocco records car sales recovery in January

Car sales in Morocco have begun to recover since the beginning of the current year, following a significant increase in sales by more than 6.5 percent during last January compared to the same period of 2020.

According to statistics issued by The Moroccan Car Importers Association, sales of new cars in the Kingdom exceeded, during last January, the ceiling of 13,335 vehicles.

The same statistics show that the sales of cars destined for personal use amounted to about 11,679 cars, recording an increase of 4.38 percent. While sales of cars destined for commercial use reached about 1,656 vehicles, recording a rise of 25.93 percent.

The "Dacia" brand continues to dominate car sales in Morocco, with a market share of more than 30 percent in January, as it sold 3,611 vehicles, registering a record increase of 6.46 percent compared to the same period in 2020.

Renault cars came in second place, with a market share of 12 percent, after its sales reached 1,411 vehicles last January.

The "Hyundai" brand recorded sales of 1089 cars, recording an increase of 9.3 percent.

Citroen and Fiat transactions also registered a significant increase, after recording sales of 517 and 414 cars, respectively.

The German brands continued to dominate luxury cars' sales in Morocco, as Audi, BMW and Mercedes recorded sales during last January at about 233, 201, and 178 units, respectively.
