AU PSC: Morocco Advocates Lasting Political Solution to Crisis in Sudan

Morocco advocated, at a high-level meeting of the African Union (AU) Peace and Security Council (PSC) on Friday, a lasting political solution to the crisis in brotherly Sudan.

The Ambassador, Permanent Representative of the Kingdom to the AU and the ECA, Mohamed Arrouchi, who was speaking at this meeting, affirmed that there is no other solution to the crisis in this brotherly country than political solution, which requires serious and constructive dialogue, an end to the suffering of the Sudanese people, and the preservation of state institutions.

The Moroccan diplomat expressed the Kingdom's hope for an end to military confrontations in brotherly Sudan, while favoring dialogue to restore confidence, consolidate peace and achieve reconciliation in order to find solutions to all the challenges facing Sudan.

In this context, Morocco insisted that the solution to the crisis in this country, with which the Kingdom maintains deep and solid fraternal ties, should involve a constructive dialogue initiated by the Sudanese themselves. On this occasion, the Kingdom of Morocco reiterated its support for the Jeddah platform and all other initiatives aimed at restoring stability throughout the country.

To this end, the Ambassador, Permanent Representative of the Kingdom to the AU and the ECA, stressed the need to intensify diplomatic efforts to strengthen confidence-building measures, protect the Sudanese people and their national capacities, ensure reconstruction and respond effectively to the difficult humanitarian situation.
