Morocco leads African countries that have acquired and administered the highest number of anti-COVID-19 vaccine doses to their populations, said the African Center for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC).
So far, African countries have acquired 357.9 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine, said Africa CDC, African Union's public health agency.
Morocco, Egypt, South Africa, and Tunisia have procured and administered the highest number of anti-COVID-19 vaccine doses to their respective populations, Africa CDC specified.
To date, some 204.3 million doses of available COVID-19 vaccine have been administered on the continent, representing about 57% of the total supply, Africa CDC added.
As of Friday afternoon, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Africa had reached 8,549,672 with 220,378 deaths, it pointed out.
