French-Moroccan Tensions Easing: Expected Official Visits to Mend Relations

In the context of French diplomatic efforts aimed at resolving longstanding disputes with the Kingdom of Morocco over the past two years, attention is now turning to a series of anticipated official visits aimed at mending the strained relations between the two countries.

According to media reports, it is expected that the French Minister of Economy, Bruno Le Maire, will visit Morocco in April accompanied by a significant delegation of French businessmen.

This visit is part of Le Maire's participation in the 2024 French-Moroccan Business Forum, organized by MEDEF International in collaboration with the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM), with the aim of enhancing bilateral investments between the two countries and boosting their value.

On the other hand, the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Minister Stéphane Séjourné will make an official visit to Morocco on February 25th to repair the strained relations between Rabat and Paris. The ministry confirmed that preparations are underway for this visit.

In previous statements, Séjourné expressed his determination to strengthen relations between the two countries in the coming weeks and months, following a request from French President Emmanuel Macron to invest more in French-Moroccan relations to write a new chapter in these relations.

Séjourné emphasized his personal readiness to bring Morocco and France closer together to overcome previous tensions, noting that he has had numerous contacts with his Moroccan counterparts since taking office.

Meanwhile, the head of French diplomacy pointed out that France has always supported Morocco, even in sensitive issues such as the Sahara, confirming France's support for the Moroccan autonomy plan, which has been a reality since 2007.
