Maroc Telecom Named Fastest Mobile and Fixed Internet Provider in Morocco

Maroc Telecom has retained its position as the fastest provider of mobile and fixed internet services in the Kingdom of Morocco, outperforming Orange and Inwi during the second half of 2024, according to a recent report by the platform Ookla – Speedtest Intelligence, which covers the period from July to the end of December 2024.

According to statistics from the report—issued by one of the most reliable platforms for evaluating and measuring internet performance globally—Maroc Telecom scored 68.20 for mobile services and 49.51 for fixed internet in overall speed assessments.

More specifically, the Ookla report indicated that, in terms of mobile services, Maroc Telecom led the market with an average download speed of 53.72 Mbps and an average upload speed of 13.28 Mbps, in addition to achieving the lowest data latency at just 43 milliseconds. It also recorded the best performance in terms of network consistency, with over 89.2% of samples surpassing the thresholds of 5 Mbps for downloads and 1 Mbps for uploads.

Maroc Telecom also offered the best mobile video streaming experience, according to the streaming index, which scored 70.89 points. Additionally, users of the Speedtest app rated it as the best mobile service provider in the country, giving it a score of 3.84 out of 5.

The report also noted that Maroc Telecom was the fastest operator in the top eight cities nationwide, including Oujda, Fez, Agadir, Marrakech, Rabat, Casablanca, Meknes, and Tangier.

As for fixed internet, Maroc Telecom continued to outperform its competitors, with an average download speed of 49.59 Mbps and an average upload speed of 48.97 Mbps, along with a data latency of only 27 milliseconds.

Maroc Telecom also ranked first among fixed-line providers in terms of network performance consistency, with 64.6% of samples exceeding 25 Mbps in download speed and 3 Mbps in upload speed. It also received the highest score in the ISP Gaming Experience index, with a rating of 81.50.

Geographically, Maroc Telecom topped the speed rankings in nine major cities: Salé, Rabat, Casablanca, Marrakech, Tangier, Agadir, Fez, Oujda, and Meknes.
