Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita and his British counterpart, David Lammy, praised the good and “fruitful” relations between Morocco and Britain during a phone call on Monday.
A statement from the Moroccan Foreign Ministry stated that the British Foreign Minister congratulated Morocco on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of King Mohammed VI ascending to the throne of Morocco's Kingdom.
The statement added that the ministers also commended the historical ties between the Kingdom of Morocco and the United Kingdom, which share more than 800 years of fruitful and steadily developing relations.
According to the same source, the discussions also provided an opportunity for the ministers to review various regional and international issues of mutual interest.
It is worth noting that relations between Morocco and Britain have witnessed significant development in recent years across various fields, particularly in the economic sector. Britain's interest in and reliance on imports from Morocco have increased following its exit from the European Union.
Morocco is also keen to deepen its relations with Britain and encourage it to adopt a supportive stance on the Sahara issue, especially after France, Spain, Germany, and the United States joined the countries supporting Morocco's claim to the Sahara.
