Morocco and Spain Discuss Strengthening Bilateral Ties at UNAOC Global Forum in Portugal

Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, met with his Spanish counterpart, José Manuel Albares, on Tuesday in Cascais, Portugal, on the sidelines of the 10th United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) Global Forum.

The discussions, part of the ongoing dialogue between Rabat and Madrid, centered on strengthening bilateral ties and addressing shared priorities.

Both ministers reaffirmed their commitment to deepening collaboration across various sectors in alignment with the strategic ambitions of both nations, emphasizing the importance of continued coordination to meet upcoming challenges and to advance the implementation of joint agreements.

They also reviewed recent progress and underscored the necessity of forging ahead together while reaffirming the enduring Moroccan-Spanish partnership.

The UNAOC Global Forum, held on November 25-27, has drawn high-profile participants, including United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, UNAOC High Representative Miguel Ángel Moratinos, Spain’s King Felipe VI, Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, and Portugal’s Minister of State and Foreign Affairs Paulo Rangel.

Over three days, the forum brings together political leaders, representatives of international and regional organizations, religious figures, and civil society actors. Discussions focus on global peace, security, and interfaith dialogue, while also exploring the potential of artificial intelligence and sports as tools for fostering international harmony.
