Morocco Announces First Recorded Case of Monkeypox

The Moroccan Ministry of Health announced today, Thursday, the confirmation of a monkeypox (Mpox) case, as part of the national epidemiological surveillance and alert system.

The ministry explained that the case was detected in accordance with the approved health protocol, and the patient is receiving the necessary medical care in Marrakech. The patient's condition is stable and not cause for concern.

The statement added that health authorities have implemented strict quarantine and medical monitoring for the patient, in addition to conducting thorough epidemiological investigations to identify all contacts and take necessary preventive measures, in line with national and international standards. The ministry confirmed that no symptoms have been reported among the contacts so far.

The ministry reiterated its commitment to keeping the public informed about updates regarding the epidemiological situation and urged citizens to rely on official sources for information, avoid rumors, and adhere to the recommended preventive measures.
