The Royal Moroccan Armed Forces have received 18 military radars of the "Longbow" type, produced by Lockheed Martin, to enhance the capabilities of the advanced AH-64E Apache helicopters, the first squadron of which—comprising six units—was recently delivered.
According to specialized reports, Morocco had requested these radars as part of its Apache helicopter deal to bolster its military capabilities. These radars assist in managing combat operations between helicopters during collective military missions and help precisely determine fire-targeting locations.
Data revealed by the official website of the U.S. Department of Defense indicates that Morocco's acquisition of these radars amounted to over $164 million. The number of radars suggests that Morocco is expected to receive an additional squadron—or multiple squadrons—of Apache helicopters in the future.
On March 5, the Royal Moroccan Armed Forces received the first batch of six AH-64E Apache attack helicopters at the First Air Base in Salé. The event was attended by Abdellatif Loudiyi, Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of National Defense Administration, along with several Moroccan ministers and officials. A high-ranking U.S. delegation was also present, led by General Michael Langley, Commander of U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM), and Amy Cutrona, Chargé d'Affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Morocco.
