Morocco eyes to procure Turkish Fast Attack Craft

Morocco is in talks with a Turkish shipbuilder company to procure Fast Attack Craft (FAC), in order to strengthen its navy.

“Morocco is in talks with Turkey for the procurement of 7 fast attack craft from Turkish shipbuilder Golcuk Shipyard in favor of the Royal Moroccan Navy (RMN).” The news website Tactical Report said.

According to International Standards, the Fast Atack Crafts are considered small, fast, and offensive warships, armed with anti-ship missiles, guns, or torpedoes, and they are usually operated in close proximity to land.

Morocco has started modernizing its military arsenal at all levels, in Air, land, and sea, with numerous armament deals.

In terms of navy, Morocco owns 6 frigates, 22 Coastal patrols, and it signed last year a deal with the Spanish shipbuilder Navantia, to construct a warship, its details are still unknown.

In addition to that, Morocco wants to acquire marine patrol aircraft specializing in surveillance and reconnaissance, and another one in charge of search and rescue, and likely to sign deals to have them soon with Italy or France, or the United States according to media reports.
