Morocco: Man Arrested for Crashing Car into Several People in Casablanca

Morocco's Judicial police in Casablanca's Ain Sebaa Hay Mohammadi district arrested, on Sunday evening an individual suspected of having deliberately crashed his car into several people, damaging the front of a fast-food restaurant.

According to a security source, the suspect was identified as a 31-year-old man with a criminal record, with a national research warrant for his connection with two cases of drug and psychotropic drug trafficking.

The initial investigation, carried out in coordination with the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), revealed that the suspect got into an altercation with employees of a fast-food restaurant in Ain Sebaa for blocking traffic at the service-drive area. The suspect then, using a rented car, rammed into the employees, injuring four of them and causing material damage to the establishment's window.

Through an ensuing investigation, the police identified the suspect in another vehicle, after he had abandoned the rental car used in the criminal acts, the same source explained, adding that at the time of his arrest, the suspect was in possession of 44 doses of “poufa” and pieces of chira, as well as a sum of money allegedly derived from drug and psychotropic drug trafficking.

The suspect has been taken into police custody as part of a judicial investigation overseen by the competent prosecutor’s office, in order to uncover the ins and outs of this case, concluded the security source.
