Morocco, Senegal Secular Ties Celebrated in Dakar

The deep-rooted, centuries-old relations between Morocco and Senegal in various fields were highlighted on Thursday in Dakar, at a meeting attended by economic operators from both countries, public decision-makers and diplomats, as well as associations.

Initiated under the theme “Dima shab: From Morocco to Senegal, Connecting our Talents”, the meeting aims to strengthen ties between the two countries, through promoting cultural, economic and professional exchanges, as well as concrete collaboration in various sectors of activity, and to create a meeting platform between Senegalese who have lived in Morocco, the Moroccan community in Senegal, public decision-makers, and Moroccan and Senegalese companies established in the land of Teranga.

Speaking on the occasion, Morocco's ambassador to Senegal Hassan Naciri stressed that this singular gathering “Dima Shab, which means ‘Friends forever’, is more than just an event, it's a powerful moment of communion, sharing and ambition for our African youth, noting that Morocco and Senegal share much more than diplomatic cooperation, they share ‘a soul, a destiny and a vision’.

“Our ties are centuries-old, woven by history, consolidated by shared values and sustained by sincere friendship. Our two countries are not just partners. They are brothers, united by a common desire to build a strong, sovereign and prosperous Africa”, the Moroccan diplomat stated, highlighting His Majesty King Mohammed VI's efforts to make South-South cooperation a central pillar of the continent's development.

As a key player in Senegal's economic growth, Morocco is present in several strategic sectors, namely finance, agriculture, construction and infrastructure, telecommunications and pharmaceuticals.

In turn, Secretary of State for Senegalese Abroad Amadou Chérif Diouf highlighted the fraternal and secular relations between Morocco and his country, noting that Morocco's various development projects in different cities are “inspiring”.

He also recalled the importance of the many visits made by King Mohammed VI to Senegal, describing Moroccan-Senegalese relations as “very good”.

Mohamed Lomé, Director of the consulting firm “Global Match Solutions”, which organized the event, said that the meeting aims to consolidate bilateral cultural and economic partnerships and facilitate exchanges between Moroccan and Senegalese communities.

The meeting focused on several themes, including “Diplomacy, Cooperation and Development: Building lasting bridges” and “Business & Economic Opportunities - Discussions on investment and collaboration between Morocco and Senegal”, in addition to testimonials and success stories from both countries.
