Elements of the Royal Armed Forces responsible for coastal surveillance intercepted, on Thursday 262 km southwest of the city of Dakhla, a pirogue stranded due to very unfavorable weather conditions, with 47 would-be irregular migrants on board.
The said migrants, all from sub-Saharan Africa, set sail on March 3 trying to reach the Canary Islands, according to a statement by the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces, adding that those intercepted received the necessary care before being handed over to the Royal Gendarmerie for the usual administrative procedures.
