A Moroccan Royal Navy patrol boat intercepted, on Tuesday, 183 km south-west of Dakhla, a pirogue carrying 27 sub-Saharan irregular migrants.
The pirogue, which had intended to reach the Canary Islands, set sail on February 29, according to a statement by the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces.
The rescued people received first aid on board, before being taken safely back to the Port of Dakhla and handed over to the Royal Gendarmerie for the usual administrative procedures, the same source added.
