Morocco's election to the presidency of the UN Human Rights Council for the year 2024 is a source of pride for Arabs, in particular the institutions concerned with this issue, said, on Sunday in Doha, president of the Arab Permanent Committee on Human Rights, Talal Khalid Al Mutairi.
"The Kingdom of Morocco is the first Arab country to have the honor of holding this position," said Al Mutairi, who was speaking at the opening of the 53rd session of the Committee.
“We must congratulate ourselves on this achievement,” he said, calling for greater confidence in the capabilities of Arab countries and to continue the serious work by being proud of the common history and focusing on unity of the nation, in the service of its development.
Morocco is represented at this session, which is attended by the relevant government departments in the member states and national human rights institutions enjoying observer status with the Committee, by a delegation from the Interministerial Delegation for Human Rights led by its Secretary General Abdelkarim Boujradi.
