Dam filling rates in Morocco reached 32.20% up to April 5th, with a total storage capacity of over 5.186 billion cubic meters, according to a bulletin published by the Ministry of Equipment and Water on the daily status of dams in the Kingdom.
This represents an improvement compared to the 23.2% recorded at the end of January, thanks to the significant rainfall that several regions of the Kingdom experienced in February and March, in addition to snowfall.
However, this rate remains lower than that recorded on the same date in 2023, which was 34.53%, with a total storage capacity of 5.576 billion cubic meters.
The bulletin indicates that the Sebou basin filling rate reached 49.82%, an increase of 0.36% compared to the previous night, mainly due to the increase in the storage capacity of the Al Wahda dam by 0.48%, which is the largest dam in Morocco, with a filling rate of 57.43%, and the Idris I dam, which recorded a filling rate of 25.53%, an increase of 0.19% compared to the previous day.
The Loukkos basin also showed improvement, with a filling rate of 63.03%, an increase of 0.23% compared to Thursday, due to the increase in the storage capacity of the Oued El Makhazine dam (93.6%) and the Dar Khroufa dam (29.85%), an increase of 0.53%.
As for the Oum Er Rbia basin, its storage capacity showed a slight improvement of 0.05%, reaching a filling rate of 7.19%, due to the increase in the storage capacity of the Bin El Ouidane dam, the third largest dam in Morocco, by 0.17%, reaching a filling rate of 9.16%, and the Al Massira dam (the second largest dam) by 0.12% compared to the previous day, bringing the filling rate to 2.2%.
