The Russian Ambassador to Morocco, Vladimir Baybakov, affirmed that Moscow values Rabat's balanced position on the Ukrainian crisis, praising Morocco's refusal to engage in any anti-Russian actions related to the issue.
In statements reported by TASS, Baybakov highlighted that the relations between the two countries are based on a strategic partnership, strengthened through agreements signed between Russian President Vladimir Putin and King Mohammed VI. He added that these ties have proven resilient amidst global geopolitical turbulence and economic crises in recent years.
Regarding Western sanctions on Russia, the ambassador acknowledged their impact, particularly in banking services. However, he emphasized that both nations have successfully addressed these challenges constructively, serving the interests of their respective peoples.
Baybakov also noted that this year witnessed active political dialogue between Moscow and Rabat. Moroccan delegations, led by Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita, participated in the ministerial conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum held in Sochi in November 2024.
