Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez on Monday thanked Morocco for its support in helping restore electricity to parts of Spain following a massive power outage.
Power was restored in some northern and southern regions "thanks to interconnections with France and Morocco," Sanchez said in a televised address, adding: "We are grateful to both countries for their solidarity at this time."
Sanchez said there was "no conclusive information" yet on the cause of the outage, which affected the entire Iberian Peninsula.
The Prime Minister has convened a crisis meeting to address the situation. Spain’s electricity grid operator estimated it would take between six and ten hours to fully restore power after the blackout, which began around 10:30 GMT.
