Sweden: Man Attacks Moroccan Embassy, Causing Property Damage, Injuring One Person

Swedish media reported today, Monday, that the Moroccan embassy in the Swedish capital, Stockholm, was attacked by an individual carrying a rainbow flag, the symbol of the so-called LGBTQ+ community. The attack caused material damage to the embassy, and one person on the street was injured as a result.

According to the same sources, citing Swedish police, the attacker was armed with a knife and broke the window of the embassy building, where he hung the flag. A passerby near the embassy was injured by falling glass from the window.

The same sources added that none of the embassy staff were harmed in the attack, and Swedish police quickly apprehended the assailant, who was taken into custody for investigation to determine the reasons behind the attack.

Swedish media quoted the police stating that, as of now, the motives behind the attack on the Moroccan embassy remain unknown, while the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs declined to comment on the incident at this time, according to the media.

The reports noted that police continue to secure the embassy premises to prevent any further security breaches or similar incidents. The attacker is expected to face multiple charges, including vandalism and harm to persons and property.

It is anticipated that the Moroccan embassy will issue a statement regarding this unprecedented attack, the reasons for which remain unclear at this time.
