Gov’t Chief Represents Morocco at Olympic Games Opening Ceremony in Paris

Morocco's Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, arrived on Thursday in Paris to represent King Mohammed VI at the Olympic Games opening ceremony.

On this occasion, the Head of Government will participate in the International Summit on Sport and Sustainable Development, launched by the Office of the French President and the International Olympic Committee (IOC), with the support of the French Development Agency (AFD).

The summit brings together heads of state and government, heads of international organizations, athletes and representatives of the sporting movement, as well as development financing stakeholders.

The Moroccan sports delegation to the Olympic Games, which began arriving in the French capital last Thursday, comprises a total of 60 athletes, including 18 women, in 19 Olympic disciplines.

During the opening ceremony, set to take place on Friday evening, the Moroccan delegation will parade alongside the other sporting delegations on boats along the Seine, in a parade unprecedented in the history of the Olympic Games
