According to the latest findings from Oxford Insights in their "Government AI Readiness Index 2023," Morocco has emerged as the fifth most prepared country for artificial intelligence (AI) in Africa, ranking 88th globally with a score of 43.34 out of 100.
The report, which evaluates 193 countries across 39 indicators spanning 10 dimensions, positions Morocco just behind Mauritius, Egypt, South Africa, and Tunisia in the African context.
Within the MENA region, Morocco claimed the 12th spot, surpassing nations like Iran, Algeria, and Iraq. The assessment, focusing on Government, Technology Sector, and Infrastructure and Data, highlighted Morocco's scores of 37.54, 35.69, and 56.79 in the respective pillars.
The United States secured the top global position, with Morocco showcasing its AI integration across sectors like healthcare, finance, education, transportation, and e-commerce.
The report also emphasized the significant impact of AI on Morocco's industries and innovation, acknowledging the nation's strides in AI strategy through academic institutions, international conferences, training programs, and large-scale data centers.
