If you’re yearning to escape the crowded tourist hotspots and discover a hidden gem where water meets lush greenery, Legzira Beach in Morocco is your perfect retreat.
Legzira Beach is God's gift to the Mirleft commune in the Sidi Ifni region. It combines both coastal and mountainous landscapes, allowing you to relax in Mirleft amidst the fragrance of historic kasbahs.
Legzira Beach, whose name derives from a massive rock in the shape of an island carved by the Atlantic waters, is located about 10 kilometers north of Sidi Ifni on the coastal road. It is approximately 65 kilometers from Tiznit and about 200 kilometers from Agadir.
In 2016, the Huffington Post ranked Legzira Beach as one of the top 40 beaches in the world, placing it 29th, ahead of beaches in Australia, Brazil, France, and the United States. The ranking was based on the beauty of the sea and the natural scenery in the area. In 2018, the beach was also ranked by Flight Network, Canada's largest travel website, as one of the top 50 beaches in the world.
The beach is famous for its massive natural rock arches, carved by the sea over many years into the mountains adjacent to the beach. The movements of the tides have created natural passages, giving this beach its unique charm. Despite this, the beach's allure remains undiminished.
Getting to Legzira Beach
The length of Legzira Beach is 1.5 kilometers. You can reach it from Sidi Ifni city via the coastal road using private cars or taxis operating on this route.
If you enjoy light adventures, reaching Legzira Beach offers just that, as you have to descend via long, steep stairs.
When you arrive at the beach and feel the waves breaking near your feet, you'll understand why it has become, especially in recent years, a prime destination for major global advertising companies, filmmakers, professional photographers, and nature enthusiasts in general.

Food and Adventure
Legzira Beach has several local cafes and restaurants just a few meters away from the waves, where you can enjoy local fish dishes while the sea breeze refreshes your lungs and revitalizes your spirit.
For adventure seekers, you can rent quad bikes to ride along the beach sands or even try surfing or parachuting, offering an indescribable thrill and adventure!
Historic Kasbahs
After a tiring yet beautiful day, you can return to the Mirleft commune if you have chosen to stay there to discover another world of past history and kasbahs that bear witness to bygone eras. Here, you can visit the Mirleft Military Kasbah, which belonged to the French colonial era, with its unique architecture.
Initially, there were two kasbahs built in a strategic location on top of Adrar Mirleft, the mountain overlooking Mirleft, in 1935. The military kasbah was designated for housing soldiers and guarding at the same time, while the administrative kasbah was smaller and housed the leaders and administrators.
Winter Festival
After enjoying a wonderful summer at Legzira Beach, you might seek a bit of spiritual nourishment or visual delight through a cultural or artistic activity. In this regard, Mirleft offers you the opportunity to attend the International Cinema and Sea Festival in November.
This cinematic event aims to highlight the essential role of the film industry in promoting ecological awareness and provides a unique platform for showcasing films dedicated to the sea and environmental issues.
The festival brings together filmmakers and sea enthusiasts from around the world to explore these important issues through the seventh art and various activities related to the sea as an ecological, economic, cultural, and spiritual space.
As a visitor, you can discover much beauty in the region and its untouched nature while enjoying the winter season with all its tranquility and calmness. While waiting for the rainy winter season, you can experience your summer holiday at Legzira Beach, one of the top 40 beaches in the world.
