Tourism: Ryanair chooses Moroccan beach destination to open a base

Irish company Ryanair is preparing to open its base in Agadir ciry, a beach destination in Morocco, in November. It has allocated $200 million to implement the project, which aims to stimulate tourism between Morocco and a number of European countries.

Ryanair chose the city of Agadir as a well-known beach tourist destination, as it will rely on its tourism qualifications to attract European tourists, as it intends to connect Agadir with 10 European countries and about 30 cities in the continent of Europe, with multiple flights within the week.

The Spanish newspaper "Preferente", which specializes in tourism news at the Spanish and international level, said that the launch of this base by "Ryanair" in Agadir, will create strong competition against the Spanish Canary Islands, which in turn depends on the influx of European tourists to enjoy its beaches and heat.

The climate of Agadir is similar to that of the Canary Islands, and Agadir is characterized by its multiple beaches, and its high temperature in most seasons of the year, which tempts European tourists, especially those who live in cold northern countries, to come to it all year round.

The same source added that the goal of this project is to create a competitive tourist destination for the Spanish Canary Islands, which is located on the Atlantic Ocean, where the Ryanair planes will be the bridge that brings European tourists closer to Agadir, depending on the various offers it will provide.

It should be noted that the Moroccan National Tourism Office was among the parties that played an important role in bringing this Irish investment to Agadir, with the aim of creating a tourism boom in Agadir and its surroundings, by providing multiple offers for flights from various European and international cities.

Morocco is betting on attracting a large number of foreign tourists during this summer and the rest of this and next year, in order to push the wheel of the economy and recover from the repercussions of the emerging Coronavirus, and to return to the African leadership in the field of tourism.

In this context, it should be noted that during the year 2019, Morocco set a record in the number of tourists who flocked to the Kingdom, with more than 13 million tourists, which made Morocco on the throne of the most attractive African countries for tourists, surpassing Egypt, Tunisia, and other African countries.
