A Royal Navy frigate on sea patrol intercepted, on Tuesday 150 km from the town of Dakhla, a pirogue with 51 Sub-Saharan would-be migrants on board.
The pirogue was bound for the Canary Islands, according to a press release from the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces.
The rescued people received the necessary care before being taken to the Dakhla Port and handed over to the Royal Gendarmerie for the usual administrative procedures, the same source added.
